China is world's largest country in energy production and consumption by far. In 2023, the newly installed capacity of renewable energy generation in China exceeded half of the global total. China`s energy transition creates unprecedented demands for new innovations and solutions needed to in the energy system evolution. China understands it can not meet its carbon reduction targets without global collaboration and innovation.

China is expected to only accelerate its clean energy transition in 2025. Record fast installation speed of solar and wind is expected to continue, but focus will shift also more towards network balancing, complementing energy sources (such as e.g. biobased energy) and innovative storage solutions.

Finland and China collaborate in the energy sector based on state level Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2017. MoU is signed between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (MEAE) in Finland ad National Energy Administration (NEA) of China. Business Finland is responsible for the project execution working together with China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI) of China.

NEA has initiated a call to invite European companies to join the collaboration in China (Typical Cases of China Europe Energy Cooperation). The official document has been published on NEA website on February 25, 2025.

This call offers opportunities also for Finnish energy companies to join this call. Business Finland supports this as part of Finland-China energy demonstration collaboration framework.

FinnCham China – as a member of Team Finland China family – is pleased to run an information sharing webinar to support this unique export opportunity.

In this webinar you will have an opportunity to hear more details from experts from EPPEI, who is also responsible for evaluating and assessing the application materials for the projects.

We will also invite European Investment Bank (EIB) office in Beijing to introduce financial tools, which can be considered for these projects in China. EIB will also provide examples of typical cases on how these financial tools have been used to promote similar projects in China.

Please note:

FinnCham will record & take photographs from the event and might post these on its public webpage and or social media platforms in order to create awareness of its events. By attending this event you consent to FinnCham Shanghai taking and using photographs of you as described above. Please contact: fang.sunjie@finnchamsh.org if you don't want to appear in the pictures or any other inquiries related to this matter. Meanwhile, commercial reprinting of these photos require written consent from the FinnCham Shanghai.
