Team Finland China is organizing a business delegation visit to Shanghai on June 3 - 4, 2021, led by Pasi Hellman, Consul General of Finland in Shanghai. With the focus on education, energy and winter sports, this visit is offering a wide range of business opportunities in Shanghai for Finnish companies.

Shanghai is allocating most of its resources and investment in the education sector – making it the second city in China to do so, right after Beijing. Vocational education is highly prioritized by the government, and it is the highlight in the education reform. One of the visions for 2035 is also the internationalization of education. There are numerous business opportunities in Shanghai for Finnish companies working in the education sector, such as joint R&D programs, students' mobility, vocational education such as nursery education, elderly people's care taking, community management, AI, electronic circuit, industrial automation, e-sports, preschools and arts.

Shanghai is a forerunner in the smart energy sector. In February 2021, Shanghai's Lingang New Area Management Committee issued the first energy development plan in China with focus on regional integrated energy system. Looking forward to 2035, the new area will form a new generation of integrated energy system featuring Chinese characteristics and the international leading energy Internet. Major energy groups in Shanghai are also working on a number of renewable energy and smart grid systems.

The Shanghai municipal government pays close attention to winter sports development, and new winter sports venues are being built to meet the fast growing demand. During this visit, Finnish companies will have a possibility to meet with the Shanghai Ice & Snow Sports Association to discuss future cooperation opportunities in venue upgrading or construction, winter sports training as well as consumer products promotion.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This visit is aimed for Finnish companies that are already present in China and identify themselves with energy, education or winter sports. Due to the current travel restrictions, the on-site visit is offered only to company representatives who are already located in China.

Kindly note, that if the participating company is not a Finnish company, participation requires that the Finnish company whose interests the Chinese company is representing as well as the relationship between the two companies, is specified in the registration form.

PRACTICALITIES

To cover the expenses of arranging this visit, Business Finland will charge a participation fee based on actual costs occurred during the visit. The participation fee will be charged after the visit when the costs are known. The estimated participation fee is max. 500 RMB/person. The price is subject to surcharges.
