- Will there be a "weaponization" of the us-dollar?


With the rising tension between the world's two largest economies, U.S. and China, how can or will the US-dollar be "weaponized" between the two countries?


Topics to be discussed include:

  • How has the US-Dollar been weaponized previously?
  • SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) - can it be used/abused?
  • What is the expectation for USD / CNY?
  • Will China push the digital currency (eYuan) to gain more independence?
  • How can companies prepare for what's coming?


This event will be both online and offline, with the offline participants having the opportunity to mix and mingle will follow after the presentations and Q&A. SwedCham has invited the members of FBCS to join this event.

    Martin has more than 20 years of experience at SEB, working within Treasury or Markets division and handling funding, currency and interest rates risks. He has been fortunate to work in many different cities such as Stockholm, London, New York and Hong Kong. Currently, his role at SEB is Head of Markets Asia.

    Head of Markets Singapore at SEB

    Sean Yokota is the Head of Markets Singapore at SEB and joined in September 2012. Sean manages the trading, sales and research teams in Singapore. For the first 6 years at SEB, Sean was the Head of Asia Strategy focusing on macro research in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to SEB, Sean was Head of EM Asia FX Strategist at UBS and earlier was an Economist at UBS Hong Kong and Japan. Sean is a frequent speaker on CNBC and Bloomberg TV.

    Sean also worked at Pan Asian Macro Hedge Funds as a Portfolio Manager at Paridon Asia and as a Macro Strategist at Corus Capital Management in New York. Sean received a Master in International Affairs from Columbia University.

    Henrik Denker has been VP Finance APAC for Gränges since 2017 based in Shanghai, China. Prior to that Henrik spent more than 17 years with SCA including VP Finance APAC, VP M&A among other roles within finance, across Sweden, Americas and Asia. Henrik has a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management degree from Linkoping University, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance from University of Melbourne.
