With a co-host arrangement from Business Finland, Finncham Shanghai is organizing a family visit to the "Xue Long 2", an international grade polar research icebreaker.

"Xue Long 2" is China's fourth polar-research vessel, following "Xiang Yang Hong 10", "Jidi", and "Xue Long", but also China's first self-built polar research icebreaker. The total length of "Xue Long 2" is about 122.5 meters, the displacement of it is nearly 14,000 tons, the total installed power is 23.2MW, a capacity of it is 90 people. "Xue Long 2" vibration noise control requirements to reach the international advanced level, to meet the Classification society classification COMF (NOISE 2), COMF (VIB 2); At the same time, underwater noise executes ICES209 standard to meet the detection requirements of acoustic equipment at the bottom of the ship.

The ship is equipped with deep and medium water multi-beam system, deep-sea shallow stratigraphic Profiler, biological Reserve evaluation echo Integrator system, underwater omni-directional sonar, ultra-short baseline, 10000 meter sounder and other acoustic equipment to meet the needs of seabed fine measurement and fishery resource detection. The design of the bottom box keel of the bow ship ensures that the acoustic transducer is protected from bubbles and shredded ice, while ensuring the economy of the ship's navigation.

Along with adults, children above 10 years old are welcome to join. Younger children cannot be accommodated due to security reasons. The maximum attendance on the vessel during this event is 50 including children. Every adult needs to register one by one in order to count the number of people. This event is for the FinnCham member companies employees and their families only. The explanation language will be English and Chinese.

For the journey, we are organizing a bus transportation from the People's Square, but you may also drive yourself – Parking near the vessel is available. The bus transportation cost will be shared as soon as we know how many will be arriving and how many buses we need.
