Women Who Lead


SwedCham has invited FBCS to listen to three female business leaders discussing success factors and barriers for female leaders. The purpose of this event is to share and inspire more women to become leaders and to believe in their leadership skills. The event also wants to highlight the challenges female leaders in China are facing and how we together can overcome these challenges.

At this seminar, the speakers will share stories from their own experiences:

  • Lessons learnt - What have we learned from our own professional careers?
  • Why is it important for both men and women to support other women in their professions?
  • What are the unique challenges women face in workplace in China?

PRICE: Participation Fee for this event is 50 RMB for Members and 90 RMB for Non-Members.


REGISTRATION: Registration is required to confirm a seat. You may register via this link (please use FBCS Member ticket) until Monday, August 26, 2019 or as long as there are seats available. Registration is binding and no-shows will be charged RMB 200 unless cancelled before the end-of-day of the final registration date.

    Founder of Lean In China International

    Roberta Basso, Marketing, Communication, and Business Development professional with 8+ years' experience in China and South-East Asian countries.
    Roberta has lead strategic projects across multiple industries - e.i. Renewable energies, F&B, Banking- including product launches, growth programs, marketing initiatives and Sponsorships’ management at a global level.
    As a Lean In Circles Regional Leader, Roberta supports a large network of women and men dedicated to gender equality. She organizes events, holds training and networking sessions, and partner with the LeanIn.Org team to grow and engage the Lean In community. The Regional Leaders Program is a pilot program of LeanIn.Org, the nonprofit organization founded by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg to empower all women to achieve their ambitions. The Regional Leaders Program highlights the work of individuals within the Lean In community and provides them with the financial and operational support they need to be successful.

    Summer Xia is the PR and Marketing lead at Microsoft for Startups Shanghai and also the host for China Innovation Decoded podcast, a Microsoft for Startups powered podcast introducing the startup ecosystem in China and reveals some behind the scene operations that are driving the local innovation.

    Before joining Microsoft for Startups Shanghai, Summer managed Chinaccelerator and MOX’s international presence, worked as a legal analyst at a boutique law firm in New York State and interned at U.S. Senator Angus King’s office in DC. Summer graduated with a BA in Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College. In her free time, Summer enjoys playing oboe, cooking and practicing Muay Thai.

She has held a number of management positions at multinational firms such as Burberry, L'Oreal, Unilever, and Marriott where she has led global strategy & innovation functions across regions and industries.

    Carol received her undergraduate degree from New York University's Stern Business School and her MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
